The title of the digital single that I want to release this time is "DJ;KEEGEEOH, Hyper Sense Surgery".
It contains the sound source corresponding to the BGM of the series of < Hyper Sense Surgery >, an image installation work that reveals both possibilities and concerns about current and future artificial intelligence technology, which was shown at the solo exhibition < Hyper Sense Surgery > held in March 2024 and the exhibition < Signs of Loss > at Museum 1 (Busan) between June 2023 and August 2024.
This digital single contains three songs: < Deplore >, an ethnic metal series that contains the gloomy times-social atmosphere of the near future, < Wailing, Original ver. > and < Wailing, Extended ver. >.
< Deplore > is a BGM-like music of < A Singer's Natural Language Hacking > (2023), a single-channel video installation work, and a man hums with a voice of lamentation when he looks at our society in the near future with artificial intelligence. Cello sound, which replaces bass, forms an addictive rhythmic combination of male humming.
< Wailing >corresponds to the BGM of the single-channel video work < Interface Hyper Sense Surgery > (2024) and < Hyper Sense Surgery > (2022), and it was intended to capture the atmosphere of the story felt after watching Na Hong-jin's occult film "Wailing" Starting with a crow's satirical crying, it unfolds excitingly with guitar riffs in which the laughter and screaming of the devil (Akuma) are repeated in bold.
< Wailing, Extended ver. > adds sound effects that felt highlighted in the movie "Wailing" to the original version of the sound source < Wailing > described above, reminiscent of a cinematic story.
Lim Nam-hoon (member of Johnson Johnson, first encounter, Two Fair, guitarist, and composer) was in charge of mixing and mastering the above three songs.
이번에 발매하고자 하는 디지털 싱글의 타이틀은 DJ;KEEGEEOH 감각성형(Hyper Sense Surgery)이다. 2024년 3월 개최된 개인전 < 감각성형 >과 2023년 6월~2024년 8월 동안 진행된 뮤지엄 원(부산)의 기획전시 < 상실의 징후들 >에서 선보여진, 현재와 미래의 인공지능 기술에 대한 가능성과 우려를 양면적으로 드러내는 영상설치 작품 < 감각성형 >시리즈의 BGM(OST)에 해당하는 음원을 수록한다. 본 디지털 싱글에는 근 미래의 암울한 시대적/사회적 분위기를 담은 에스닉(ethnic) 메탈 계열의 연주곡인 '구음(Deplore)' 과 '곡성(Wailing, Original ver.)', '곡성(Wailing, Extended ver.)' 세 곡이 수록된다.
'구음(Deplore)'은 단채널 영상설치작품인 < 어느 가수의 자연어 해킹(2023) >의 BGM 격의 음악이며, 어떤 남성이 인공지능이 발달한 가까운 미래의 우리사회를 관조적으로 바라봤을 때의 암울함을 한탄의 목소리로 허밍한다. 베이스를 대신하는 첼로 사운드가 남성의 허밍이 중독성 있는 리드미컬한 조합을 이루고 있다.
'곡성(Wailing)'은 단채널 영상작품 < 인터페이스 감각성형(2024) >과 < 감각성형(2022) >의 BGM에 해당하며, 나홍진 감독의 오컬트 영화 < 곡성 >을 보고 느낀 스토리상의 분위기를 담아내고자 하였다. 까마귀의 풍자적 울음소리로 시작하여, 악마(아쿠마)의 웃음소리, 비명소리 등이 굵직하게 반복되는 기타리프와 함께 흥미진진하게 전개된다.
'곡성(Wailing, Extended ver.)' 은 위에서 설명한 오리지널 버전의 음원 ‘곡성(Wailing)’에 영화< 곡성 >에서 부각되었다고 느껴진 효과음들을 추가하여, 영화적 스토리를 압축 연상시킨다.
위 세 곡의 믹싱과 마스터링은 임남훈(존슨존슨, 초면, 투페어의 멤버이자 기타리스트, 작곡가)이 담당하였다.
